Rara Lake is the largest lake situated in the Mugu district in the Karnali zone, the far north-western part of Nepal. Rara is at an altitude of 2990m, surrounded by green hills. Rara was declared a National Park in 1975, the surface of Rara Lake is around 8 square kilometers, and the perimeter is 9 kilometers. The length of the lake is 5 kilometers and it is 2 kilometers wide, the max. depth is 167 meter. Rara is heaven for adventure lovers. The main attraction in Rara is Horse Riding, enjoy boating, and hiking to nearby hills(Murma Viewpoint) with breathtaking magnificent views of mountains. More than 500 different kinds of flowers, 20 different species of mammals, and 214 species of birds can be observed at Rara National Park. This is a known as peaceful, relaxing place.
